Tender scarecrows

Installation commissioned by The Grand Mazarin hotel, Paris. Through a series of totems—halfway between weather vanes and articulated puppets—Tender Scarecrows plays with colors, symbols, and materials, using recycled elements of fabric, metal, and concrete. Gentle scarecrows rise from the ground, inviting passersby to pause, to question their next steps, and to consider which direction to take in these cacophonic times. The last of them chooses to break free from the frame and begin its ascent toward the sky—the nest of dreams from which it was born.
